as Yamanaka passed both Mu-
noz and Furusato at turn nine on
the final lap for second. Munoz
was third, with Quiles and Jose
Antonio Rueda (KTM Ajo) also
getting by the hapless Furusato
in the last two turns.
Rueda (239 points) still holds
a healthy 71-point advantage in
the championship, but Piqueras
(168) finally has some momen
-
tum in his sails. Munoz, Quiles
and Alvaro Carpe (KTM Ajo) are
all tied for third on 139.

From laps three to 20, he was
one of a lead quartet, which
included Max Quiles (Aspar
KTM), polesitter Valentin Per-
rone (Tech3 KTM) and Ryusei
Yamanaka (MSI KTM). But a
stunning late surge from Taiyo
Furusato (HTA Honda) and
David Munoz (IntactGP KTM)
brought the pair into the fight.
Munoz wasted little time
making his presence felt as he
nerfed Quiles and Perrone wide
on the penultimate lap to go
Moto3
Maybe we were overly eager to
call this championship a done
deal. For Angel Piqueras (MSI
KTM) showed he could still be
relied upon to provide some
fight, as he produced his best
weekend of the year to win out
in a chaotic end.
For the first time all year, the
Spanish rookie didn't appear
weighed down by the expecta
-
tions of his $350,000 move to MSI
KTM. He was the fastest name in
practice and timed his late attack
