In being ruled out of both Sunday races and being the only Kawasaki rider on the grid this season, his manufacturer missed being the only one that had been with WorldSBK literally every step of its way to 1000 races. It seemed cruel, especially as Gerloff had shown such grit and guts to get back on and race on Saturday, before he flopped into the arms of his team and went to the hospital for checks in great back pain but with no truly Petrucci, starting from pit lane after emergency bike repairs due to the turn-two incident, came through from last to fifth, passing a fading Alex Lowes and his official bimota.
