VOLUME 62 ISSUE 30 JULY 29, 2025 P29 Mini Cup Qualifier Sonoma Hailed a Success T he Mission MotoAmerica Mini Cup Qualifier at Sonoma Raceway in Northern California took place over the July 19-20 weekend and was considered a success. Organized by cur - rent MotoAmerica racers Tyler O'Hara and Hawk Mazzotta along with the Sierra Nevada Mini Moto Club, the race fea- tured 135 entries across nine different classes, from beginner Stacyc electric bikes to pro-level 450cc Supermoto. The event's premier class was the Ohvale GP190 category, with two riders pulling ahead of the chase pack as the elbow-drag - ging Anthony Lupo Jr and Dexter Daytona Salaverria exchanged blows in two very close races. Salaverria gave it his all, but Lupo Jr was too strong, securing both race wins and the overall weekend victory. Ethan Pan finished third. In all, 16 riders qualified for the 2025 Mission Mini Cup National Final to be held at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wiscon - sin, on August 8-10. Tyler O'Hara, Mission Mo- toAmerica Mini Cup promoter, said, "It was a hugely successful event. The GP190 class had some great racing between Dexter Day- tona Salaverria and Anthony Lupo Jr. Those kids were flying and should do well in the national final in a few weeks' time. "On Saturday, our new Racer School had 15 entries, and we had five-time MotoAmerica Superbike Champion Cameron Beaubier come out to show his support to the next generation coming through. "We also had some great support from former MotoGP racer and current Ohvale USA importer, John Hopkins, who supplied Ohvale race machines for the Arrive and Race program, with riders from as far east as Virginia using the initiative to compete. "I'm really pleased with how the event turned out, and to see grassroots racing is alive and healthy in Northern California."
