much, but later in the moto, as
the berms built up, I was able to
use them to my advantage and
find some more speed. It's not
what we wanted, but I'm happy
to still be on the podium."
Mikkel Haarup led the Tri
-
umph charge to fourth overall
while
scoring his first moto
podium with a third in moto two.
"Another great weekend,"
Haarup said. "I felt good on the
track all day. I had two solid
starts—my intensity was very
good early on. I was fourth in
second apart at the line. Race
two again saw Shimoda up
front as he stalked Martin in
the opening laps. He made his
bid for the lead but ultimately
forfeited the spot once his
rear brake started to fade. This
hindered his downhill speed
and dropped him back to fourth
in the race. Another podium
keeps Shimoda securely in sec
-
ond for the championship hunt.
"After
I got into the lead, my
rear brake was just totally gone,"
Shimoda said. "I couldn't do
or three years [with injuries],
but everyone stuck behind me.
To do this in front of my family,
friends and this home crowd, it's
just a dream come true."
Shimoda finished third
overall for his second podium
visit in two weeks. The Honda
HRC Progressive rider led laps
in both motos and battled
with the front-runners all day.
Moto one saw him overtake
Deegan late in the race as the
two battled all the way to the
checkers, finishing less than a
Shimoda (30) battled up front in both 250MX motos
and earned third overall.
