earned his first
career podium
with a third in
450MX moto one.
(Right) Chase
Sexton, the
450MX defending
champion, made
his return to
racing, finishing
in fifth overall.
"First moto, I almost
got the holeshot and ran
up front for a while, which
was a good feeling, and I
felt pretty strong for the
whole moto," Hampshire
said. "I got a bad start
in moto two, but I came
through the pack fast, and
overall, it was a big learn
-
ing day for me. Fourth
overall, I'm a man of my
word, and I said this is
kind of where I would be
at this point, and we're get
-
ting there. The next goal is
to hit an overall podium."
Defending champion
Chase Sexton returned
to racing for the first
time since the Fox Race
-
way season opener and
finished fifth overall. His
pace in moto two was
almost on par with Jett
Lawrence's, but a tip-over
late in the race kept him
off the podium.
"First race back at Red
-
Bud wasn't great, results-
wise, but I didn't expect a
whole lot coming into the
round," Sexton said. "In the
second moto, I was pleas
-
antly surprised that, even
if I wasn't riding great, my
speed was still pretty good.
I'm happy with the day."
