As for Eli Tomac, the former champ had a tough day when his bike started to smoke and then finally quit while running third after starting 10th. His first-moto DNF meant he had a poor gate pick for moto two, which resulted in a 26th-place start. He made it up to seventh by the time the checkers came out. It wasn't much better for Tomac's teammate Cooper Webb, who ran out of gas just before the finish while running 10th in moto one. Red Bull KTM's Aaron Pless - inger started the day with some speed, qualifying sixth and running near the front of the first moto before fading back to sixth. Plessinger did not line up for moto two after having devel- oped a fever and was feeling too ill to compete. 250MX Jo Shimoda continued the red wave of Honda dominance at RedBud. Shimoda is now the lone 250 rider for the Honda HRC Progressive team after his teammate, Chance Hymas, exited the series after injuring his knee at High Point. They are the only two riders to have overall wins over the defending champion, Haiden Deegan. Shi - moda rode two fantastic motos in what will certainly mark his breakout ride of the 2025 sea- son. He moved to the lead after getting around Tom Vialle near the halfway point in moto one but made a much earlier bid for the top spot in race two.
