Team France Wins FIM Junior World Championship S ome of the top 65cc, 85cc and 125cc amateur riders in the world took part in this year's FIM Junior Motocross World Championships held at Romagne in France, July 5-6. Sunday's race day presented tough conditions, with heavy rains soaking the track and leav - ing a muddy, slippery surface for the competitors. Riders from Team France earned two gold medals and one silver for the overall win in the team stand - ings, with Team Italy in second overall and Team Great Britain in third. The Americans finished fourth overall. American Kannon Zabojnik was the standout rider for Team USA, as the Factory Cobra racer won the highly contested 65cc 10-12 division. The Texas native grabbed the early holeshot but fell. He later regained the lead before the race was red-flagged due to inclement weather that made the track nearly impass - able for the small bikes. The second moto of the 65cc division was canceled due to the weather, leaving Zabojnik with the overall win. Fellow American Levi Geis (Cobra) joined Zabo - jnik on the podium in third. Zabojnik's victory was the first by an American rider in this class since 2013, and the first World Junior Championship for the USA since Caden Braswell clinched the 85cc title in 2018. American Gauge Brown (KTM) was sixth overall in the 85cc class, and fellow American Mad - dox Temmerman (Husqvarna) was 11th. He took the crown in the 65cc division in extreme weather conditions.
