This championship- caliber duo battled for podium position, but Tomac couldn't find a spot to pass. Fortunately for him, Prado fell late in the race, moving Tomac into third, but by then, the gap to the leaders was too large to close. In race two, Tomac started much better but again found himself in third behind Prado and eventually dropped to fourth after Hunter made a bold move around the former champ. Prado later fell out of a podium position, which moved Tomac up to third in Notably, Hunter has yet to finish outside the top five since mov - ing up to the 450MX division. "First moto, I felt like in the first opening laps I needed to be better," Hunter said. "He [Jett] was able to bridge a little gap. In the second moto, I didn't get around close enough, and then Eli got past me after a few corners, so I kind of lost the tow there. That's, in my opinion, where I could've been better in the opening laps." Tomac finished third on the podium. The Monster En - ergy Star Racing Yamaha rider started outside the top 10 in the GNCC GOES MOTO Two notable names from the GNCC series, Josh Toth and Mike Witkowski, competed at the Southwick round of Pro Moto- cross. Toth, who won the Snow- shoe GNCC the previous week- end, finished 25th overall with scores of 25-26, while Witkowski placed 28th with scores of 31-23. Toth then drove to Ohio, where he won the National Enduro on Sunday. "I had a blast out there racing amongst so many leg- ends," Toth said. "I feel I could do better with some more prep, so mixed emotions on the result personally. But it's been a heavy week on the body; happy to leave healthy." BARCIA'S BACK Justin Barcia returned to action for his first Pro Motocross this year after injuring his knee at the East Rutherford Supercross. The Rockstar Energy GasGas rider finished ninth overall with 10-9 results. "It was good to be back with the crew and the team," Briefly... MOTOCROSS I AMA PRO MOTOCROSS / SUPERMOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP Jorge Prado showed signs of his World Champion self as he ran up front in both 450MX motos. However, a couple of minor falls dropped him to fifth overall.
