Toprak's
Triple Treat
A
t Autodrom Most in the Czech
Republic, about a month
before Misano, the WorldSBK
paddock was frozen. At Misano,
we were all parboiled, as the
proximity of the Misano circuit to
the Adriatic Coast of Italy added a
heavy veil of humidity as well.
That said, it was simply glorious
from start to nearly finish, unless
you had to work outside at the
track like the riders, mechanics,
organizers and volunteers.
Misano really is a "must-do"
circuit for WorldSBK, and it is one
of the most used in SBK history.
It is quite popular still, as
WorldSBK was really born and
nurtured in Italy, and Misano is
where you can go racing while
feeling like you are on holiday
at the same time. Even with the
Mugello MotoGP weekend loom
-
ing over the other side of the
Apennine Mountain Range.
The Misano track itself is
nothing to get too excited about,
but the fact that it has so many
passing places, quick changes of
direction and one big gutsy corner
(leading into only slightly less
gutsy corners) makes the races
desperately close in lap time.
And sometimes, as one main
protagonist would find out, the ac
-
tion is just desperate.
Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Rac-
ing – Ducati) will go down as the
new track-best record holder with
a startlingly quick 1:31.618 from
Superpole that beat the only other
sub-1:32, set just a short while
before by Toprak Razgatlioglu

IN THE

In scorching conditions,
Toprak Razgatlioglu did
the triple right in Ducati's
backyard and clawed
himself to within nine
points of the title lead.
