There were early fears that
polesitter Jose Antonio Rueda
(Ajo KTM) was going to break
clear for a sixth victory of the
season, as he led the first 11
laps. But Quiles, Munoz and
Luca Lunetta (SIC58 Honda)
were never far away. And when
Rueda ran off track at turn one
on lap 12, Quiles appeared best
placed to take advantage.
By then, David Almansa
(Leopard Honda), Alvaro Carpe
(Ajo KTM), Angel Piqueras (MSI
KTM), Joel Kelso (MTA KTM)
and Ryusei Yamanaka (MSI
KTM) had joined the fun. And as
Rueda struggled to react, Quiles
took control on the final lap as
he gunned for a maiden win in
just his fourth GP.
Yet Munoz clung to his slip
-
stream on the back straight be-
fore cheekily—and cleanly—nudg-
ing under him through turn 17 as
they
gunned for the finish line to
take the win by five-hundredths
of a second. Carpe pipped Al-
mansa for third with 1.1 seconds
covering
the top nine.
Rueda's (149 points) lead is
down by two points. Piqueras
(97) now sits 52 back, with
Kelso (86) and Carpe (85) still in
touch.
