Aaron Plessinger finished
second overall with 2-3 scores
at Hangtown. In the first moto,
Plessinger was in a league of
his own, as his opening sprint
speed was nearly unmatched.
He led all but two laps of the
moto, only to be caught and
passed by a charging Tomac
late in the race. This scene was
all too familiar for AP, as a near

ly identical situation occurred
Lawrence said.
"That second
one, we ended up going back to
a paddle tire for the start, just
to make sure we got the start.
We're good enough to manage
it around the track, and that
start's just so important. I just
stayed committed around that
outside in the second turn and
ended up getting [the lead] from
[Hunter Lawrence]. From there,
they prepped a lot of sections,
so I just used that and tried to
go as fast as I could to get a
decent gap and just manage
here all moto while his newfound
rival, Eli Tomac, struggled with a
poor start and could only man
-
age a ninth by the checkers. Jett
led all 15
laps and cruised to the
win, 10 seconds clear of second
place. His long-term thinking
worked out, and a 3-1 score
earned him the overall win for the
day. Lawrence now leads by 16
points as the series heads east.

put my head down and tried
