Bagnaia got the holeshot at
the restart, but Quartararo, with
his soft front tire, quickly took
over. The Yamaha rider blitzed
clear of the field, as the medi-
um-shod Ducatis all struggled
for
grip. Marc ran wide, Bagnaia
dropped down the order, and
Zarco (also on the soft front)
moved into podium contention.
Bagnaia's race ended with a
crash at Luffield, the despon
-
dent Italian sinking to his knees
in the gravel
trap as his woeful
season continued, while Bezzec
-
ers, Morbidelli and (although he
didn't
take it) Espargaro were all
allowed to take the restart, as
three laps had not been com-
pleted yet.

Cecchinello New IRTA President
Lucio Cecchinello has taken over
as the new IRTA president from
Herve Poncharal, who had held
the position for 20 years. The LCR
Honda Team Owner admitted he
will "probably have to eat my din-
ner in the team truck in front of the
laptop" due to the added demands
and responsibility of the position.
Part of the job requires Cecchi-
nello to sit in MSMA meetings,
along with representatives from
the MotoGP factories, Dorna and
the FIM.
ACOSTA'S KTM
ULTIMATUM
There was relief for KTM off the
track with their financial reprieve
(see In The Wind). But results on
it were massively below par, with
Pedro Acosta rescuing a strong
sixth place for the Austrian fac-
tory on Sunday before telling his
bosses to bring improvements,
and soon. The 21-year-old has
planned another trip to KTM
headquarters in Mattighofen,
Austria, this week to understand
how the RC16's current plight can
be improved. "It's quite frustrating
that you don't have the tools to
come and play. It's quite difficult
also when you are not able even
to fight. It's not enough to start
14th and finish eighth. It's not what
I wanted for my career, and it's
not what I'm working for. For this, I
think everyone should make a big
step soon, really soon." Enea Bas-
tianini, Brad Binder and Maverick
Vinales all had disastrous week-
ends in England. "The worst race
of my career," Bastianini called it.
"I'm not happy about anything."
Briefly...
(Above) Alex Marquez loses the
front of the Ducati right at the start
of the Sunday GP. Circumstances
out of his control enabled him,
brother Marc and Franco Morbidelli
to start again after the red flag.
(Left) Espargaro checks on
Morbidelli after putting him on the
floor. Despite the gesture, Morbidelli
let it fly at Espargaro in the media
debriefing afterwards.
