Bauman Bests Buckeye Nationals
T
he inaugural Buckeye Nation-
als marked the return of the
Mission Foods CTR Flat Track
Series, May 17-18. A visit to the
Western Reserve Motorcycle
Club in Salem, Ohio, saw riders
from around the world make
their own reservations in victory
lane.
With the Progressive Ameri

can Flat Track Series taking
a break until early June, the
Buckeye Nationals presented an
opportunity for top pro riders to
scratch their competitive itch.
Current Mission SuperTwins
points leader Briar Bauman
made the most of this chance.
The two-time AFT Champion
Bauman collected every honor
available in the Expert classes,
sweeping the Premier Expert
and Open Expert main events
and winning the Mission Chal

lenge race. The perfect weekend
would not come easily for the
Rick Ware Racing rider, as Bau-
man had to outduel Turner Rac-
ing Honda rider Trevor Brunner
on Friday in dramatic fashion.
Saturday saw Bauman face off
against 1st Impressions Racing
rider Justin Jones and Ohio's
own Jarod VanDerKooi, but nei-
ther could fend off Bauman for
the entirety of the main event.
