ROUND 17 / MAY 10, 2025 RICE ECCLES STADIUM / SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH SUPERCROSS I MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS / SUPERMOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP P78 "I had a race to race," Beau- mer added. "I knew I was going to pass him [Vialle] and just try to ride my own race. Obviously, he's going for a championship, and I don't want to do anything to jeopardize that. I was careful around him, but there were no thoughts of sitting behind him." With the 250SX East title still up for grabs, all three of the favorites ran in third, fourth and fifth at the halfway mark. Vialle dropped off the pace and quick - ly shuffled back from third to fifth as Hammaker and Hamp- shire both maneuvered around the defending champ. Ham- maker was arguably the fastest of the three but contact with Beaumer allowed Hampshire to close the gap. A dive-bomb pass from Hampshire caused both riders to crash to the ground with five laps remaining. Vialle capitalized on their desperation, stealing back third place and earning enough points to clinch a second con- secutive title. "I came into the corner, and they were both down," Vialle said. "I couldn't believe it. I think I was four or five seconds be- hind them. I was trying to stay there because there were three or four laps to go, and I knew RJ would try to do something to Seth. That was my only hope and my only chance because I was a little farther. When I came to the corner and they were both down, I still can't believe it." Beaumer to quickly regain the positions and eventually take second, ending the season with back-to-back podium finishes. This rebound reminds us of Beaumer's fiery start to the season, but a mid-season slump caused the title to slip away. With Cole Davies out for the night (see Briefly... ), he also managed to clinch second over - all in the Western Division points. "We're racing dirt bikes, and I'm fighting for position just as much as everyone else," Beau- mer said. "He [Hammaker] got into me in the first turn, so no team tactics, I was just racing my own race." Both riders stayed upright, and Beaumer surrendered second and third place as Hammaker and Hampshire charged through the field. Their contact allowed Tom Vialle took third after a chaotic main event and clinched the 250SX East title.
