Gajser Out With Shoulder Injury
M
XGP points leader Tim Ga-
jser missed this weekend's
race at the MXGP of Portugal,
the seventh round of the FIM
Motocross World Championship.
The Honda HRC rider suffered
a shoulder injury at the last
round in Switzerland and initially
planned to race, but the injury
turned out to be worse than first
anticipated. Gajser won three of
the first six rounds this season
and was 27 points ahead of
Romain Febvre going into this
weekend. He's dropped to sec
-
ond in points, 25 behind Febvre.
"Obviously, everyone knows
that I dislocated my shoulder
in Switzerland, but despite the
best care possible since leaving
the track, I will be unable to line
up for the MXGP of Portugal,"
Gajser said before the race. "I
tried my hardest with all the
physiotherapy, and we did every
-
thing we could to be ready for
this weekend, but it just hasn't
worked out. There was hope
earlier in the week, as things
were going well, but this is an
injury you can't force or rush to
be better than it is. Of course, I
am extremely disappointed to
be missing any racing, and now
we will see what we can do in
the coming days to figure out
our next move. I hope to see
you at the races soon."

pionship. He's been dealing with
an ankle and shoulder injury
for the past few rounds, [and]
aggravated the ankle injury mid-
week, before Denver.
"It's tough to step away with
just two rounds remaining," said
Roczen before Denver.
"Ken has been pushing
through a lot of adversity this
season," said Team Manager
Larry Brooks. "This new develop
-
ment is unfortunate, but we sup-
port him fully in taking the neces-
sary steps to heal properly."
It is unclear when Roczen
will return to action.
