Bou Wins TrialGP Opener
T
he 2025 FIM TrialGP Cham-
pionship kicked off in the
Spanish town of Benahavis in
the province of Malaga April
5-6, and Toni Bou, of the Repsol
Honda Team, came away at the
top of the championship leader
-
board.
Each day is now made up of
two "races," and Bou won them
both. In race one, Bou dropped
eight points to Gabriel Marcelli's
18, making it a Repsol Honda
Team 1-2.
Jaime Busto, of the Factory
GasGas Team, took third with 22
points. Beta's Matteo Grattarola
also dropped 22 points but was
awarded fourth place ahead of
TRRS's Aniol Gelabert of Spain.
Race two was much closer,
with Bou edging out his team
-
mate, Marcelli, by just two
points, 10-12. Busto was again
third, just one point back. Grat-
tarola and Gelabert went 4-5.
"I'm very happy with how this
first day in Malaga went," Bou
said. "Two wins in two laps isn't
easy due to the new regulations,
which put a lot of pressure on
you to avoid mistakes. Every
-
thing happens very quickly, so
tomorrow will also require close
attention. I expect changes to
the sections on Sunday. If it
doesn't rain tomorrow, the sec-
tions will be even easier for ev-
eryone. I'm happy with the start,
but we remain fully focused to
be able to repeat the results on
the second day."
Bou picked up where he left
off Sunday morning, winning
race one well ahead of Busto,
with Gelabert, Marcelli and Grat
-
tarola finishing 3-4-5.
However, Bou's bid for a
sweep fell by the wayside in race
two, with Busto taking the win by
three points over the defending
champ, Bou. Marcelli edged out
Grattarola by a point for third,
while Great Britain's Jack Peace
