VOLUME 62 ISSUE 13 APRIL 1, 2025 P85 E vil genius or an ego gone unchecked? That was the question that hung over the Grand Prix of the Americas after Marc Marquez (Lenovo Ducati) executed a devilish plan that delayed the MotoGP start, allowed him to begin the race on the right tires and underlined that when it comes to manipulating a situation for his own end, the Catalan has no equals. Having engineered a situation in which he could switch from wet to dry tires, Marquez was poised to reap the benefits as he dominated the early laps of the shortened race. It wouldn't be overly harsh to suggest karma was at play when he later threw away a certain victory by crashing out with 11 laps to play. Embattled teammate Pecco Bagnaia (Lenovo Ducati) was on hand to benefit, as he claimed a crucial first win of the season to kick - start his title push. Francesco Bagnaia was in the right spot at the right time when leader Marc Marquez went down. The former champ, Bagnaia, went on to take the win.
