battle. Springsteen nipped Pegram for fifth at the finish, while Atherton blazed through the field after his earlier crash to finish seventh. Farris, Fletcher and Ingram finished alone in eighth, ninth and 10th, respec tively, while Hale finished a disappoint ing 11th after surviving a near crash and reinjuring his broken hand. Jones and Morehead both struggled from the get-go: Jones with a slipping clutch and Morehead with an ill- handling machine. "The clutch started going out in my heat, and it went totally out in the main," said Jones, who finished 13th. "I just rode around to get some points." "The front end just started shaking real bad from about the second lap," said a somber Morehead, who ended his 19 th Camel Pro Series with a 14th-place finish. "This whole year has been nothing but bad luck." When asked what his plans for next year were, the friendly 38-year-old Ohioan shrugged and replied, "I don't know if I'll be back." ct Results TIME TRIALS: 1. Scott Parker (29.615 seconds); 2. Parker's helmet, and motorcycle, will bear #2 in 1993. Now, it can be told. Jeff Emig is the National King. His first-ever 125cc National MX crown came at the Budds Creek grand finale. And along with it, Emig hammered his way to the most wins in the series on his Team \^mahaYZ125. He did all this despite being far behind in the point standings with only two events remaining. And that's a sure sign of a champion. And a sure sign that the ballistic YZ125 is a force to be reckoned with. And if the competition thinks the YZ gave them a hard time this year, just wait until it gets in their faces in '93. It's sure to be a royal pain for tliem. .. .. :.،,· .. 15
