We tested the 1975 Husqvarna 250 CR
50 years ago. We said it was the only true
production GP bike in the world and was
an expert's bike only, "that makes no
compromises on the track for those who
aren't." It sold for $1750 and weighed
206 pounds... We had coverage of the V.O.T.E. St. Patrick's
2-Day Trial from Texas Canyon in California, where Bernie
Schreiber and Marland Whaley battled for top honors... Carl
Cranke and Tom Penton were class winners at the Shamrock's
ISDT Qualifier that was held in California City, California.
Paris-to-Dakar Rally winner Gaston Rahier
was pictured on the cover 40 years ago. We
had coverage of the race, a profile on Rahier,
and we interviewed Chuck Stearns, who was
the first American to start (and finish, sixth
overall) the race. He rode a modified Yamaha TT600... We had
coverage of the opening round of the 250cc Motocross World
Championship in South Africa. American Jim Tarantino
finished third in the first moto... Geo Ballard won the River
Ranch Hare Scrambles National in Lake Wales, Florida.
