he Trailblazers Motorcycle
Club hosted the 80th running
of its Hall of Fame Banquet and
Bike Show at the Carson Center
in Carson, California, on March
14. This year's banquet was at

tended by a record 720 people.
The Club got its start in 1940
as a way for retired racers, indus
-
try members and motorcyclists,
primarily from the West Coast,
to meet once a year to relive
the past and honor those who
contributed to the growth of the
sport. As a result, the Trailblaz
-
ers Hall of Fame was created,
and nearly 300 individuals have
since been inducted, including
this year's new members: Steve
Baker, Eddie Castro, Tony Dodge,
John and Rita Gregory, Bruce
McDougal and Roy Turner.

Baker was honored for his ac

complishments as a road racer,
and especially for when he won
the Formula 750 World Champi-
onship in 1977, thus becoming
America's first road-racing World
Champion.
Southern Californian speed-
way fans were thrilled to see
"Fast Eddie" Castro make the
Hall of Fame. To no one's sur-
prise, the energetic Castro was
the most enthusiastic of the
night when he was brought on
stage to accept his well-de-
