week was the new rules, which delivered pretty much exactly as hoped. In 2020, the Progressive AFT season opener at nearby Volusia Speedway Park saw the first nine places all taken by Indian FTR750s, with a solitary Yamaha rounding out the final position in the top 10. By contrast, Thursday's race saw six different makes inside the top 10 (Yamaha, Harley-Da - vidson, Kawasaki, KTM, Honda, Royal Enfield). And Friday's rematch upped that number to seven with the addition of a Su - zuki GSX-8S piloted by Memphis Shades/Vinson Construction's Dan Bromley, who returned to action after sitting out Thurs- day's main with a lacerated foot. "It was an insane race," Dan- iels said after Friday's triumph. "Just last night I thought I had to dig super deep for that win and tonight totally disproved that. I had a little bit of speed on everybody, then the last couple of laps, I just kind of lost myself. I think it's also what happened to Briar last night—it's super hard to lead. Just leading a National and having a guy breathing down your neck is super tough. I made a couple mistakes and boom! He was right there on me. "We went at it for a lap or two and I kind of reverted to his line because I think it was a little bit faster and a little bit more consistent. He gave me a hell of a fight, and I expect that the rest of the year with him, Brandon [Robinson], Davis [Fisher], all those guys, they're dialed in. "That's why I hated people saying, 'Oh man, you're going to walk the dog on these guys.' What, are these guys not good? These guys have won races and championships. It doesn't matter what bikes they are on, they're good, and their crews are good. I'm going to have to fight as hard as I ever have." "It's not heartbreaking for me," Bauman said after Friday's main. "I was heartbroken last night. We were kind of living a ROUNDS 1-2 / MARCH 6-7, 2025 DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY / DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA FLAT TRACK I AMA PROGRESSIVE AMERICAN FLAT TRACK P104 Tom Drane finished on the Singles podium both nights.
