P156 It was all things Daytona in Cycle News issue number 10 in 1975. Gene Romero was pictured on the cover 50 years ago for winning the Daytona, saying a dirt tracker won a road racing classic. Kenny Roberts won the 100-mile Jr.-Expert Lightweight class. Jimmy Ellis won the 250cc class and Steve Stackable the 500cc class in the Yamaha Super Series of MX race, later to be known as the Daytona Supercross. Terry Poovey won the short track final held at Daytona's Memorial Stadium. J.R. Rawls won the following day... We modified the Cooper 250MX bike, bringing its performance into 1975. Our Yamaha TY350 trials test bike was pictured in action on the cover 40 years ago... We had full coverage of all the happenings in Daytona. Freddie Spencer won the Daytona 200 by more than a minute despite dropping two minutes back after pitting earlier in the race. Spencer also took the Formula One and Two victories. Honda-mounted Bob Hannah ran oŒ with the Daytona Supercross victory ahead of Jeƒ Ward and Ron Lechien... We rode Terry Cunningham's Husqvarna 500AE "Auto." Our Yamaha TY350 in action on the cover 40 years ago...
