day's main. A furious charge up
through the field ended with him
and 1st Impressions Husqvar-
na's Chad Cose on the ground
and the red flags waving. He
managed to rip back up through
the order following the restart to
collect eighth-place points.
And while he still had nothing
for Kopp, Saathoff did manage
to beat everyone else on Friday
to radically improve his early-
season title outlook.
The week's other podium
result was taken by Daytona
maestro Dalton Gauthier, who
rolled in with what he repeat
-
edly termed "a loose program,"
backed by little money and
limited training. Whatever the
limitations, his experience and
talent were enough to leave Bike
Week with third- and fourth-
place results.
