McGrath Wins at King of the Hammers S even-time Supercross Champion Jeremy McGrath took a class win at the King of the Hammers off- road race in Johnson Valley, California. McGrath and co-driver Jaren Porter won the Pro Stock NA UTV class piloting a Maxxis-sponsored Kawasaki Teryx KRX1000. The duo finished the eight-hour-plus race in 19th overall after starting in the 51st position. Nearly 130 vehicles started the race. "It was a long day, we had a good time and man, it was an adventure, and my Kawasaki KRX held up nice all day," McGrath said. "We had a great pitstop, and Chris and the boys did a great job getting us back out after battling front lower arm issues. I don't think we would have made the finish without them. We had to stop several times to tighten some things up, but it worked out great for us. My co-driver, Jaren, was great out there, using that Warn winch to pull and tow us WIND IN THE P60 Jeremy McGrath and co- driver Jaren Porter won the Pro Stock NA UTV class at the King of Hammers. Honda 1-2 in Norway T he Repsol Honda team of Toni Bou and Gabriel Marcelli went 1-2 in the FIM X-Trial round in Stavanger, Norway, February 8. Bou had a perfect weekend in Stavanger, and from the first round, he was very comfortable, making only one mistake at Zone 4. He remained at the top of the clas - sification, securing his place in the final alongside Marcelli and Jaime Busto of the factory GasGas team. In the Super Pole, Bou reaffirmed his dominance, which allowed him to start from fourth position in the closing round. Finally, after over - coming the different sections with 16 points, the Repsol Honda HRC rider achieved the win, his fifth of the six competitions held so far. Marcelli also had a good first experience in Stavanger. In the first round, the Montesa Cota 4RT rider qualified directly for the final, finishing third with 12 points. In the Super Pole, he obtained second position. Then, with 23 points, tied with Busto, Marcelli faced the tiebreaker zone, where he finished ahead of his rival to take second place. Marcelli said, "It was difficult for us, but we've re - turned to the positions we need to be in. I'm happy overall with sec- ond place, although I didn't have the best feeling of the season." "I am relatively satisfied because initially I wasn't sure if I would make it to the final," Busto said. "I gave it everything, and I only missed out on second place in the run-off. So I have to be pleased." Spain's Alex Canales (Monte - sa) and Italy's Matteo Grattarola (Beta) rounded out the top five. After five events, Bou remains at the top of the overall standings with 95 points, holding a 31-point advantage over closest rival Busto. Marcelli moves up one position and is now third, with 51 points. The next round will be held in Austria on March 15. CN OVERALL (Top 5) 1. Toni Bou (Mon) 2. Gabriel Marcelli (Mon) 3. Jaime Busto (GG) 4. Alex Canales (Mon) 5. Matteo Grattarola (Bet) up some pretty crazy lines. There were people jammed up everywhere. Jackhammer [section] was the worst; I think we were sitting there for an hour. We finally got through, and we just kept on trucking. The course was super tough; they threw everything at us today. It was great to see everyone cheering us on out on the course." CN Honda's Toni Bou (center) and Gabriel Marcelli (left) went 1-2 in Norway, with GasGas' Jaime Busto taking third.
