points between Julien Beaumer
and Haiden Deegan.
"It's unbelievable to get the
first win for the Triumph brand,"
Smith said. "I think a lot of
people may have questioned
me leaving Star [Yamaha], but I
believed in these guys from day
one, and we worked our butts
off all off-season, and it really
shows. I'm just so happy to be
back up here on the top step."
Haiden Deegan crossed the
line second overall with podi
-
ums in the first two races. No
one
can fault Deegan's effort on
the night. After falling in race
one, the Star Racing Yamaha
Glendale, however, looked dif-
ferent for the Triumph rider. He
stayed out of
harm's way all
night long, avoiding drama off
the track, and avoiding taking
the risky lines on track. This
worked in his favor in the long
run. A 2-3 started his night and
had a good shot at the overall
win going into the final race.
Smith capped off his night in
style with a victory in race three,
giving him a 2-3-1 result for the
big overall win. This was the first
win of the season for Smith and
the first Supercross win for the
Triumph brand. Smith has also
now wedged himself second in
Lawrence, Aaron Plessinger and
Malcolm Stewart rounded out
the top 10 overall.
250SX West
There was no shortage of drama
in the 250SX West division as
the top four riders looked to build
momentum before the midsea-
son break. Jordon Smith estab-
lished himself as a title threat
and
nabbed his first victory of
the year.
Smith is no stranger to the
250 class. He's been in the title
hunt more times than we can
remember, but it's never come
to fruition for the gritty veteran.
