Chase Sexton is striking while the iron is hot. His win in Glendale came without winning any of his three main events. Instead, his 3-3-2 scores were good enough for the overall win in the 450SX division and made him the first repeat winner of the 2025 season. Sexton came alive in the latter half of the first main during an intense battle with Ken Roczen, and then he carried that same added ag - gression into the second gate drop. He turned up the heat again in race two and held off a hard-charging Eli Tomac while simultaneously trying to catch Jett Lawrence and Roczen up ahead. Sexton looked in conten - tion for a top spot in race three, but a small mistake allowed Tomac to get by for the even - tual win. Still, two third-place results set him up nicely for the night's overall win. Sexton now retakes the points lead from Roczen and leads by two. "The first two races were chaos," Sexton said. "I had to fight hard to get to a good posi - tion and be on the podium. In the last race, I made a dumb mistake and let Eli get by me. Honestly, I'm a little bummed I didn't win that last race; I want- ed that one. But I got the overall win, and that's what we're here to do. We're here to win and get the red plate back, and consis- tency paid off tonight." Cooper Webb grabbed a podium for the second time this season. The Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha rider came out swinging in race one and dominated the field from start VOLUME 62 ISSUE 5 FEBRUARY 4, 2025 P59 SMX NEXT SMX Next, formerly known as Supercross Futures, returned to Glendale for its first round of the 2025 season. Team Green Kawa- saki's Landen Gordon dominated the race of hopeful amateurs and took the win over fellow Kawasaki rider Enzo Temmerman and EBR Yamaha's Landon Hartz. "I rode really consistently," Gordon said. "I'm proud of myself for that, and I'm proud of how far I've come." OLD GUYS RULE SLR Honda's Billy Laninovich, who turns 42 on February 26, set a new record as the oldest rider ever to qualify for a 250SX main event, besting his previous record from one year ago. "Lano" quali- fied out of the 250 LCQ in second and logged 21st overall on the night with 20-21-29 scores. PRO CIRCUIT HEARTBREAK More hardships for the Pro Circuit Kawasaki team as Supercross rookie Drew Adams suffered a broken collarbone during the first 250SX qualifying session. Adams was called up to the pro ranks to fill in for the injured Ty Masterpool but will now be sidelined with surgery already scheduled. ARIZONA NOTES: The Rockstar Energy GasGas Factory Racing Team updated the condition of one of its 250SX West riders, Ryder DiFrancesco, who was injured while practic- ing before the A2 Supercross. DiFrancesco suffered a fractured arm and broken lower left rib and sustained internal abdominal damage. He underwent surgery in Briefly...
