oming into round three of the Monster
Energy AMA Supercross series, neither
of the preseason favorites had yet to win
a main event. Both Jett Lawrence and Haiden
Deegan entered Anaheim 2 still winless and
behind in the SuperMotocross World Champi
-
onship points standings. But that all changed
once the checkers flew for the final time in
the California stretch of the 2025 series. The
reigning SMX Champions lit the candles at A2
and closed the gap to the series leaders.
Lawrence needed a win. After a subpar 12th
place in round one, his worst Supercross finish
ever, the Honda HRC Progressive rider has
been on an upward arc ever since. He set the
tone early in the day with the fastest qualify-
ing time by nearly a second and followed
it up with a close second in the heat race.
Things changed, though, as rain began to fall
just before the 450SX main event. Lawrence
started inside podium territory and stalked
the early leaders for the first three-quarters of
the race. Light rains made the track slick and
treacherous, forcing Jett to be patient behind
