second, a massive improvement
from his 12th place result just a
week ago. The reigning Super-
cross champ seemed to have
improved
his bike setup strug-
gles and was the first rider to
uncork the
massive triple-quad
line through the rhythm lane.
In the main event, he started
outside the top five but latched
on to Tomac once the number
three passed around the outside
of the sand section. Lawrence
stayed close and made his own
passes around Hunter Lawrence
and Ken Roczen before finding
himself back on Tomac's rear
fender. From there, it was game
on as the two contenders stayed
wheel to wheel and made quick
work of the then leaders. The
suspense was evident, with
both riders continuing to launch
the big quad late into the race.

30 JO SHIMODA
7TH 250SX
Jo Shimoda came in with the red
plate, but two broken fingers from an
impact with a pitboard during practice
forced him outside the top five. "As
everyone knows, no words really,"
he said. "Gotta keep the ball rolling;
if not, I would regret it. Thank you,
team, for making the adjustment
needed to get through for the night;
we'll be a little more healthy next
weekend."
36 GARRETT MARCH-
BANKS 8TH 250SX WEST
Garrett Marchbanks won his heat
race early in the night but later
finished eighth in the main event. "In
the heat, I had a strong start, took the
lead by lap two, and won my fourth
career heat race, which felt great,"
he said. "The main was tougher; I
got shuffled back to 16th early but
charged up to finish eighth. The track
was challenging with limited passing
lanes, but I'm feeling good heading
into next weekend."
MYOWNRACE
Tomac and Jett
Lawrence were never
farther apart than
this for the second
half of the main.
