third in the main event, but a
slight bobble on lap five saw
him tip over and drop back to
sixth in the running order.
"I got up third pretty quickly,"
Smith said. "I went to the inside
and caught my clutch lever on
the Tuff Block. Instead of just
bouncing off it, it [dragged] the
Tuff Block cover with me for like
five feet. I was on the power but
wasn't going anywhere; it was
like I hit neutral. I tipped it over
and had to pick it up off the Tuff
Block and lost a couple spots."
He then clicked off succes

sive fast laps, which saw him
catch
up to the back tire of
Ryder DiFrancesco, who was, at
the time, running in a podium
position. With two laps to go,
Smith passed for third and
sealed the deal for the final spot
on the box.
"I made some changes to the
bike for the main, and I was able
to push the whoops a lot bet

ter," Smith said. "I know that I'm
