Bou Back To Winning
A
fter suffering a surprising
loss at the opening round of
the FIM X-Trial Championship in
Spain, Repsol Honda's Toni Bou
bounced back to win round two
in France on January 11.
Repsol Honda HRC earned
a podium double in Chambery,
with Bou winning and teammate
Gabriel Marcelli joining him on
the rostrum in third position.
Second place went to opening-
round winner Jaime Busto on the
factory-backed GasGas.
From the start of the first lap,
Bou was determined to make up
for the result he had obtained
at round one in Madrid. After
completing the six action zones
of the first lap, Bou was tied
with Sherco's Adam Raga on 10
points in second position. With
the new regulations, he managed
to qualify directly for the final.
On the decisive lap, the 36-time
World Champion dominated the
Superpole and went on to take
his first victory of the year.
"I'm very happy," Bou said. "I
think that after the round in Ma
-
drid, the whole team deserved this
result. We have worked very hard
these last few weeks, and it has
been reflected in the result. The
race went well, and it was an in
-
credible final. I felt really comfort-
able from the start, and we know
that this is the way forward."
Bou finished out the final with
six points. Busto was second
with 17, nipping Marcelli, who
had 18 points.
Raga finished a distant fourth.
Sherco's Benoit Bincaz rounded
out the top five overall.
Bou and Busto share the lead
in the championship, with Raga
holding down third.
