replacing the stock handlebar
with a shallower bend. Fortu-
nately, things all evened out
quite nicely with the replace-
ment bar, and there was no need
to modify the controls or cable
lengths. The cockpit ergonom
-
ics remained neutral with the
new moto-style handlebar, but
we did quickly notice that riding
is now high and tight with the li-
cense plate tucked up away from
the wheel well. Turn signals and
lights still have a secure mount
and function properly.
At the front, we were able to in
-
stall a Scott's steering stabilizer
with a clean-looking billet mount.
The sub-bar mount required run
-
ning some pretty tall risers and
bridge a few gaps, but as men-
tioned, you'll find a rather limited
aftermarket for the mighty DE.
As for a tail tidy or a mount for a
Scott's steering stabilizer, HRT is
the only game in town. Or was at
the time of this build.
Once installed, the tail tidy did
a lot to cut weight and get rid
of some bulk. The rear fender

suspension revalve
by TBT Racing, the
800DE has much
better hold-up
and bottoming
resistance. A move
like this on the
stock setup would
be ill-advised.
