AMA Adventure X Time Trials Debuts D ozens of adventure motorcyclists converged on the AMA campus recently for the inaugural AMA Adventure X Time Tri- als, a new combination of the adventure discipline with a time-trial format. Three classes tackled the muddy single-track trail, short grasstrack section and pit-bike course. There was Lightweight for any single-cylinder motorcycle, Middleweight for multi-cylinder bikes less than 1000cc and Heavyweight for multi-cylinder bikes 1000cc and larger. Bikes had to be factory street-legal machines. The AMA partnered with Rob Buydos, long-time motocross and AMA Supercross announcer and promoter of the Bagger Racing League, for this event, the proceeds of which financially sup - port the American Motorcycle Heritage Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Buydos began developing concepts for adventure-bike competition several years ago. More recently, he started working with the AMA to develop an amateur format that would be fun and accessible for a wide range of adventure riders. The new tires are the Diablo Powercruis - er and Scorpion MX32 Mid Soft. The Diablo Powercruiser "repre- sents the completely new Custom- Touring line of Pirelli high-perfor- mance tires designed specifically for select models of sport cruiser and bagger machines. With the Dia- blo Powercruiser, Pirelli targets own- ers of the new cruiser and bagger V- twin bikes—characterized by searing acceleration and fun to ride—which have become more high-performing over time in terms of torque output and handling. These machines are aimed at customizers who combine aesthetic research with perfor - mance tuning and who are therefore looking for a tire capable of adding high performance and sportiness to their creations." The new Diablo Powercruiser boasts a slick shoulder to improve dry performance. In the central part of the tread pattern, there is the iconic Flash design typical of Pirelli sports products. The new tires will be available from March 2025 in the main sizes popular for Ameri - can baggers and cruisers. The new Scorpion MX32 Mid Soft is the successor to Pirelli's most successful motocross tire in the FIM Motocross World Cham- pionship. The new front tire, Pirelli claims, improves braking behavior and facilitates cornering; the rear offers even more traction for starts and exiting corners. Pirelli also claims it improves versatility on medium-hard terrain. The new Scorpion MX32 Mid Soft will make its official debut in the next Motocross World Champi - onship.
