Friese Takes Idaho Arenacross B oise hosted rounds three and four of the AMA Arenacross Championship, December 6-7. Vince Friese stood atop the podium on both nights of racing, fur- ther extending his points lead. Round Three (Friday) Friday night's round three saw Fri - ese sweep his heat race and both main events. The MotoConcepts Honda rider led wire to wire in the opening main, narrowly winning by just over a second. Friese's teammate Ryan Breece took sec - ond after a poor start. Michael Hicks took third after battling with Breece. The second main event saw Yamaha's Austin Politelli take the holeshot over Friese before the two flip-flopped posi - tions on lap three. From there, Friese held the top spot and took home another win. Politelli held on for second in race two, bumping him to third overall. Hicks again took third and took second overall. Drama on night one involved a huge collision between defending champ Kyle Peters and Breece. Peters ran it in hot and center-punched Breece, sending both rid - ers onto the ground. This dropped the two off the podium, with Breece taking sixth and Peters finishing seventh in race two. Round Four (Saturday) Friese continued his momentum into Saturday night with another big win to start race one. The Arenacross newcomer held his own over Breece as they went 1-2 in the opening main event. Hicks again crossed the line third, just ahead of Rob - bie Wageman. Friese lead early in main number two. A close pass on Wageman saw the Yamaha rider hit the deck as Friese and Breece checked out from the rest of the field. The two Honda riders finished less than a second apart, with Friese again sweep - ing the night. Breece took second with a pair of second-place finishes, and Politelli again rounded out the box a third in race two. CN Round Three (Friday) 1. Vince Friese (Hon) 1-1 2. Michael Hicks (Yam) 3-3 3.
