JORGE MARTIN: FROM
CRISIS TO CHAMPION
Jorge Martin's championship
success wasn't just a maiden
premier-class title for the Span-
iard; it also completed a splendid
turnaround from a dire place at
the beginning of the year. The
26-year-old revealed he was bat-
tling some mental demons before
the season even got underway,
which led him to find a mental
coach. "This year in January,
I was really struggling with my
mental health," he revealed after
his title triumph. "Last season was
great. Even after being second, I
was quite happy. But in January

like 'I will never be champion in
MotoGP'. So, thanks to my coach,

[had] a lot of hope of winning. Not
only for me, but for my team, for
my people, for my family—all the
closest. So, this helped me a lot."

ing just three top six finishes in
both the Sprints and feature races.
"I'm disappointed," he conceded
after his final race of the year. "Dis-
appointed for everybody. It's not
what we wanted from all parties.
I came in here with 25 podiums,
