Middle of the Night
The quaint fishing town of La Paz, B.C.
Mexico, came alive at approximately 1 a.m.
on a chilly Saturday morning when Larry
Roeseler crossed the finish line in first
place in the Baja 1000 in 1989. Roeseler
overcame a chain issue where he had to
hold his bike's countershaft sprocket in
place with his boot for 10 miles late in the
race, giving him and his teammates
Ted Hunnicut and Danny LaPorte the
dramatic win by just six minutes.
