land to claim the title. He's on
241 points to Canet's 176 with
Aldeguer and Garcia tied for
fourth on 175.
MOTO3 RACE
David Alonso (CFMoto Gaviota
Aspar Team) delivered another
masterclass at Phillip Island,
winning his 11th race of the sea-
son and tying Valentino Rossi's
lightweight-class single-season
victory
record from 1997. The
2024 World Champion broke
away in the final stages, finish-
ing 2.9 seconds ahead of a
fierce
battle for the remaining
podium spots with Daniel Hol-
gado (Red Bull GasGas Tech3)
edging out Adrian
Fernandez
(Leopard Racing) by just three-
thousandths of a second to
claim second place.
Agius, cheered on by his home
fans, secured third, while Ogura
finished fourth, extending his
championship lead to 65 points.
The top 10 was rounded out
by Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Rac-
ing Team) in fifth, Gonzalez in
sixth,
Barry Baltus (RW-Idrofoglia
Racing GP) seventh, Tony Arbo-
lino (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team)
in eighth, Sergio Garcia
(MT
Helmets - MSI) ninth and Marcos
Ramirez the sole OnlyFans Amer-
ican Racing Team rider after Joe
Roberts
crashed in practice and
broke his scaphoid, in 10th.
In the points, Ogura needs
only a top five finish in Thai
-
and Manuel Gonzalez (Gresini
Moto2)
broke away. However,
Gonzalez's long-lap penalty
dropped him into a chasing
group led by championship
leader Ai Ogura (MT Helmets -
MSI). As the race progressed,
Aldeguer began to pull away
from Canet, but tire manage-
ment became crucial with
limited dry track
time.
With eight laps to go, the race
turned into a duel between Al-
deguer and Canet as Lopez fell
behind.
Canet took the lead on
lap 16, but Aldeguer responded
at turn four. The final lap saw
Canet make another move, but
Aldeguer reclaimed the lead at
turn 10 with a perfectly timed
maneuver, nudging Canet out of
the way in a hard but fair move
to take the win.
