back with a win on stage five and
ended the rally second overall.
Schareina's result helped give
Honda the W2RC Manufacturer's
Championship.
"We made a few mistakes in
this rally, but the end result was
good; the bike and the team were
great throughout this event, and
I'm so proud of them," Schareina
said.
Luciano Benavides took third
overall at the Rallye du Maroc. The
reigning W2RC champion landed
on the overall podium in his first
race back with the KTM squad.
Ross Branch played the long
game in Morocco. He came into
the race battling Honda's Ricky
Brabec for the W2RC title, but
things turned in Branch's favor
once Brabec bowed out after a
knee injury in the dunes on stage
one.
From there, it was smooth
sailing for Branch. The Hero
Motorsports rider only needed
to finish the rally to clinch the
championship. Their entire team
shifted the focus to protect
-
ing Branch throughout the race
should he encounter any issues.
After winning stage one, Branch
did not finish on the podium the
rest of the week and rode to a
sixth-place result at the finish
line, 45 minutes behind Sanders'
winning time. He still clinched the
W2RC championship, the first for
himself and the Hero team.
"No words can capture the
magnitude of this incredible
moment," said Branch. "I am
thrilled to see the entire team's
hard work come together, and
witnessing everyone's happi
-
ness is a success in itself. I feel
fortunate to be part of such a
passionate family!"
