The defending champions struggled to fifth place. In the MXGP/Open, Febvre was uncer - tain if he would ride in the second MXGP moto after being pelted with dirt in the first moto and injuring his eyes. He opted to ride; however, he suffered more vision problems late in the final moto that caused him to nearly crash and take the handle - bars to the chest.
