OCTOBER 6, 2024 MATTERLEY BASIN / WINCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM MOTOCROSS I FIM MONSTER ENERGY MOTOCROSS OF NATIONS P76 he got payback from last year on the last lap. I got him on the last lap last year. He got me this time for a better position. I'm more just excited and happy for Australia, man. It's a first-timer, and I'm pumped we're able to do that with these two other guys and it's just unreal!" The Americans took a close second place with Tomac third and Plessinger eighth in the final moto. "It was 100 percent worth it to come here," said team captain Eli Tomac. "I mean, we gave a strong effort of course, we wanted the win, but we did all that we could and I'm proud of both these guys who rode with me. We put in the fight just a little bit short, but overall okay." The Netherlands went into the final race with the lead, but a 15th place for Glenn Colden - hoff didn't do their team any favors. With 36 total points, they dropped from first to third. the pass, but I stuck with him and took a different line before the uphill triple, got the drive and made the move." Jett's second place still gave him the Open overall, and Hunt - er's fourth-place result pushed Team Australian into the overall win, three points up on second. The Aussies are continuing their upward trajectory in MXoN, after finishing third at RedBud in 2022 and second at Ernee in 2023. "The first one was nice and cruisy," said Jett Lawrence. "The second one [moto three], I didn't get as good a start, but that made it exciting. I had to get a good flow going. I was able to reel the front boys in and got around Tim [Gajser], but then Slovenian uncorked the ballsy uphill quad and set his sights on another win. Meanwhile, the Aussies weren't done yet, as both Lawrence brothers worked together to claw through the pack. Jett made his way around Tomac and charged up to the back of Gajser before setting up a pass for the lead. The two Hondas battled at the front, with Gajser waiting to pounce back. His move came in the second-to-last turn on the final lap where a dive-bomb pass saw him reclaim the lead from Jett Law - rence, crossing the line four-tenths of a second ahead of the Aus- tralian. Gajser's two moto wins earned him the MXGP overall. "It was great to battle with Jett, and we put on a real show for the fans," Gajser said. "Obvi - ously, I wanted to take the win, and I made it happen on the last corner. I felt good all day, and in the first race I got into the lead and didn't have to push too much to win the race. Then, in the last moto, I got into the lead but didn't know Jett was there, so when he was there, I realized I had to go again. Then he made Cooper Webb raced a 250 for Team USA, his first time since 2016.
