efforts of other Ducati riders, Bulega could well have been ahead of even Razgatlioglu. He leaves Cremona after two full rounds of free shots at overturn - ing Toprak's lead, yet still trails behind him in the championship. Bautista is 82 points from the lead, Lowes is 110 adrift, and Petrucci is now just 113 behind Toprak. WorldSSP Adrian Huertas (Aruba Racing Ducati) and his championship rival Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team Ducati) had some on-track issues during Friday at Cremona. Standing on each other's toes, touching each other's handlebars, and then, oddly, practicing a start together. It was a bit peculiar all around. In Superpole, Huertas won, and he emerged victorious in the crucial battles throughout the weekend rather than the trivial disputes. In race one, Huertas soared to the win, followed by Stefano Manzi (Ten Kate Yamaha) in second and Montella, off the pace, in third. Huertas was 4.665 seconds up on the otherwise inspired Manzi and 7.597 seconds ahead of Montella. It would get worse for Mon - tella. Fourth, and on the first triple, Marcel Schroetter (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) was ahead of Tom Booth-Amos (PTR Triumph) on the other triple. Lucas Mahias (GMT 94 Yama - ha) was sixth despite a recent shoulder injury, with an improved Triumph for John McPhee in his WRP by SKM-Triumph taking him to seventh. In the second 20-lap race of the weekend, Montella was all out to win but ended with a bike in the bin. He slid off into T7, which was a favorite crash point at this tight and short new circuit on the WorldSSP roster. Montella had set a new lap record of 1:32.117 on lap six as he tried to flee his pursuers, but on lap 12, he was out of the race altogether. Not Huertas, but Manzi, in - spired by the noisy home crowd or not, took his first win since round two in his native Italy. It was Yamaha's first win since round three. Booth-Amos made a small personal history stride, moving from eighth to third and secur- ing his first WorldSSP podium. It marked Triumph's first podium since Niki Tuuli's third place at Mandalika last year. In the championship, Huertas leads his great rival Montella by 43 points with only six individual races left. Manzi has crept up to within seven points of Montella. Gordon Ritchie WORLDSBK Race 1 1. Danilo Petrucci (Duc) 2. Nicolo Bulega (Duc) 3. Alvaro Bautista (Duc) 4. Iker Lecuona (Hon) 5.
