and made his way to the lead
before executing several sprint
laps, which saw him open up a
double-digit gap back to second
place. He rode away uncontest

ed and proved to be a challenger
for the SMX crown. While losing
the points lead, he's still just one
point back in second place.
"I just needed to get off the
start, that was the biggest
thing," Sexton said. "I don't know
if I've been on a start that short,
so the jump really mattered. I
didn't come into the first turn
super great, but I was able to
come around fourth. The first
moto, I feel like I rode decent,
but I was too far back, and by
the time I got into fourth, those
guys were already well ahead of

of the point system because
it's Olympic scoring, so I just
didn't want to do a big song and
dance and find out I didn't win,"

Tomac; I watched him from
Australia racing with Stewart,
Villopoto, Dungey, all those guys.
So, yeah, it's cool, probably a
bucket list thing."

2 COOPER WEBB
5TH (5-4) 450SMX
Cooper Webb logged his best result
of the Playoffs with fifth overall. "To-
day was a step in the right direction.
We were a lot better. I qualified sixth,
which was great. In the first moto, I
got an awesome start, ran up front,
and ended up fifth. Then in that last
moto, I got a great start again and
made some early passes to second.
I ended up fourth and was solid, right
behind Hunter. I felt a lot better today
and gained a little bit of confidence."
