Yoshimura SERT Motul Win Bol d'Or 24, EWC Title WIND IN THE P42 The result meant YART rider Niccolo Canepa, who was part- nered by Marvin Fritz and Karel Hanika, will retire from racing without the third World title he was chasing. "This is not exactly the race we were hoping for. We were hoping to battle a bit more with SERT and make their life a bit more difficult," said Canepa. "Unfortu- nately, we had a problem in the first stint, and we were never in the fight for the victory. But we never expected to be on the podi- um today, so we must be happy for this third place because it's been a tough race for us." The final championship stand- ings have Yoshimura SERT Motul as champions on 173 points from YART on 159. BMW Motor- rad World Endurance is third on 119. CN OVERALL 1. Yoshimura SERT Motul (Suz) 24:01:28.767 2. KM 99 (Yam) 24:02:19.639 3. Yamalube YART Yamaha (Yam) 24:02:40.803 4. Team 18 Sapeurs Pompiers CMS Motostore (Yam) 4:02:50.221 5. BMW Motorrad World Endurance (BMW) 24:03:08.388 Y oshimura SERT Motul banked a win double in the FIM Endurance World Cham- pionship, coming out on top in the 2024 title showdown by taking back-to-back Bol d'Or 24 Hour victories at Circuit Paul Ricard in France, Sep- tember 14-15. The Suzuki trio of Gregg Black, Dan Linfoot and Etienne Masson took Yoshimura SERT Motul's second EWC crown and its first since 2021 to go with the 11 titles won when the France-based squad ran under the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team banner. Suzuki has now triumphed in the legendary Bol d'Or 24- hour race 20 times, and Black and Masson have become four-time winners of the long- standing EWC event. Yamaha-powered KM 99 team scored its first EWC podium in its second year in the championship, with sec- ond place for Randy de Puniet, Jeremy Guarnoni and Florian Marino to end 2024 as the top independent EWC team. Yamalube YART Yamaha EWC Official Team began the Bol d'Or title decider leading the standings as one of four teams in championship conten- tion. Although it completed the Formula EWC podium in third, the team fell short in its efforts to defend the EWC title it won in 2023 after two time-consuming unscheduled pitstops. Yoshimura SERT Motul celebrate after taking out the 2024 Bol d'Or 24 and EWC crown.
