ROUND 1 / SEPTEMBER 7, 2024 ZMAX DRAGWAY / CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA SUPERMOTOCROSS I MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERMOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP P90 going and where I'm slower was a big thing to learn." Levi Kitchen crossed the line third in the 250SMX class. The Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider grabbed the first holeshot of the day, but it was stripped away when the opening moto was red- flagged and forced to restart. He later climbed back to fifth. Kitchen stood out in the second moto as he took another good start before moving to the lead on lap two. He controlled the top spot before a slight bobble forced him to roll a double and effectively hand the win over to Deegan. Kitchen showed ahead of Deegan. His pace proved strong again in the sec - ond moto, where he ran second for the first half before dropping back to fourth. He still managed to hold off Jo Shimoda on the final lap, which kept him second on the day. With a standout ride like this, Beaumer could be a sleeper pick for the Playoff rounds. "Obviously, being up front with those guys, you learn a lot," Beaumer said. "When Haiden passed me, he had some amaz - ing lines I had to pick up on. But just being up there with those guys and seeing where they're said. "Today I was doing lines that no one else was even doing, so I don't even think it mattered in the first place. There were some phat lines out there. Even in the sand, I felt good, too, and that's something people could've picked up on easy, but I just sent it through there." Julien Beaumer had the breakout ride of his rookie season with a second overall, the first podium of his profes - sional career. The Red Bull KTM rider has never competed in the SMX format, but he still started up front in both motos and led nearly all of the opening race Levi Kitchen led most of the second 250SMX moto and took third overall.
