MISANO WORLD CIRCUIT MARCO SIMONCELLI / SAN MARINO
ROAD RACE I FIM MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

lap 19 with rapid fire moves at
turn 14 before moving by Alonso
and Holgado on the final lap.
Alonso was oddly beaten up
on the final lap, finishing sixth,
behind Furusato and Veijer,
before losing a further place to
Kelso for exceeding track limits
on the final lap.
Alonso's (246 points) rare off
day means his championship
lead is cut by five points with
Holgado (176) now second, with
Ortola and Veijer tied on 173.
MotoE
Hector Garzo (Dynavolt Intact-
GP) is the 2024 MotoE World
Champion
after he scored a
fourth place in the first race
at Misano. The Spaniard had
The Spaniard was over the
line when punting Scott Ogden
(MLav Honda) off at turn 13 on
Saturday morning. Despite the
team appealing the penalty, it
stood. That meant the Spaniard
was fired up for Sunday. That
would explain how he recovered
from 17th to reel in a lead group
of five that also included Taiyo
Furusato (HTA Honda) and Joel
Kelso (BOE KTM).

Ogura (175 points) leads the
World Championship standings
for the first time, with teammate
Sergio Garcia's (166) 12th place
meaning he sits nine points
back. Joe Roberts, 13th here,
and Alonso Lopez, 29th after a
lap-one crash, are tied in third on
133 points.
Moto3
This one may go down in his-
tory. Angel Piqueras (Leopard
Honda)
scored an incredible
maiden Moto3 victory at Mi-
sano, recovering from a double
long-lap
penalty to mug a top
three, consisting of David Alonso
(Aspar CFMoto), Dani Holgado
(Tech3 GasGas) and Ivan Ortola
(MSI KTM) on the final lap.
Even two long-lap
penalties couldn't
prevent Angel Piqueras
from nabbing his
maiden Moto3 victory.
