Young Finishes 2024 CSBK Season in Style T he 2024 Canadian Super- bike Champion, Ben Young (BMW), ended his fourth cham- pionship campaign in style by snatching a last-lap victory over archrival Alex Dumas (Ducati) at the final round of the series at Ontario's Shannonville Motors- port Park on September 1. Dumas, who had led from start to finish to claim race one on Saturday after earlier taking pole position, led every lap of race two except the last one as Young re - covered from a tardy start to reel in the Ducati rider at over half a second per lap, eventually taking the lead on the second attempt with half a lap to go. "These guys obviously got a better start than me, so I just tried to settle into a rhythm again and follow fairly close, but not too closely," Young said. "Eventually, I was able to pull the trigger on Sam [Guerin], but Alex had no weak points. I just saw a little opportunity on the last lap and was able to find a way through, so it's nice to end the year on top." It was a heartbreaking loss for Dumas, who joined the series midway through the 2024 sea - son on the Ducati after a career spent with Suzuki. "We tried a new setup today; it didn't really work the way we wanted it but we're still making lots of progress," Dumas said. "I would have loved to do the full season, but I'm happy to finish the year with two wins. Hopeful - ly I'm back next year, but things are pretty up in the air." Rounding out the podium for a second day in a row was Guerin, who once again found himself unable to claw his way into the lead but kept his rivals closer than in race one as he claimed his eighth podium this season. The series points have Young now a four-time CSBK Champion on 224 from Guerin's 174 and veteran Jordan Szoke (Kawa - saki) third on 146. CN SUPERBIKE RACE ONE 1. Alex Dumas (Duc) 2. Ben Young (BMW) 3. Samuel Guerin (BMW) 4. Jordan Szoke (Kaw) 5. David MacKay (Hon) SUPERBIKE RACE TWO 1. Ben Young (BMW) 2. Alex Dumas (Duc) 3. Samuel Guerin (BMW) 4. Jordan Szoke (Kaw) 5. Tomas Casas (Yam) WIND IN THE P44 Ben Young (1) made the move on Alex Dumas (23) with half a lap to go to steal the final race win of the 2024 CSBK season.
