and that was that. He took the
checkers five seconds ahead of
Plessinger for the moto win and
championship.
"I felt the safest out front,"
Sexton said. "They were all
riding good, and the pace was
high, so that was a dream ride
for me to wrap it up in that one
with no mistakes."
Race two was a rinse and
repeat, as Sexton again made
moves for the top spot early and
ran away with a 26-second win.
450MX
Sexton entered the final round
with a 28-point lead over Law-
rence, and a second place in the
first moto would seal the deal
early for the KTM rider—but a
win would be even better. Sex-
ton safely made it through the
first turn and held third by the
start of the second lap. He soon
got around his main rival, Law-
rence, and by the fifth lap, Sex-
ton passed his KTM teammate
Aaron Plessinger for the lead,

P78
593 DREW ADAMS
12TH (15-11) 250MX
Drew Adams made his professional
debut at Ironman as a member of the
Pro Circuit Kawasaki team. "Making
my debut had its ups and downs, and
it is definitely different racing with
the big dogs. I had a good start in
moto one but had a pretty big crash.
I got up and fought to get 15th. In the
second moto, I didn't get the start I
wanted, but I made some passes and
finished okay. Now that I have a little
experience, I know I will come back
strong."
34 RYDER DIFRANCESCO
7TH (7-5) 250MX
Ryder DiFrancesco nearly matched
his best finish of the summer, going
7-5 on the day. "Ironman was my best
weekend, and it's always been my
favorite track ever since I first raced
here. I had good vibes all day; just felt
like I wasn't behind the eight ball at
all and back to myself. It was good to
finish the season with P5 in that final
moto. It's nice to have some mo-
mentum and good for the confidence
going into Charlotte and the SMX
series!"
