YEARS AGO AUGUST , Mike LaRocco made the front page for clinching the 250cc Motocross National Championship at Washougal. Ryan Hughes was the 125cc- class winner... Will Davis rode to victory at the Denver Half-Mile... We had coverage of the Rapid City Half-Mile won by Chris Carr... Kevin Windham and Andy Bower were some of the big winners at Ponca City. Travis Pastrana won the 80cc Stock (0-11) Championship and Ricky Carmichael won multiple 80cc Championships... We interviewed two-time MX World Champion Greg Albertyn, titled "Spell It With A Y!" We pictured the 2005 BMW K 1200 S in action on the cover 20 years ago, as well as the new Yamaha YZ250... We reported that the Daytona 200 was switching to 600cc Formula Xtreme bikes beginning in 2007... We also reported the passing of dirt tracker Aaron Creamer at just 24 years of age following a crash in an AMA Hotshoe National at Sturgis... Mike Alessi made his Pro debut at the Spring Creek National and created quite a stir when he predicted he'd finish the day in the top five or even on the podium. Crashes and a mechanical resulted in 31st overall... Joe Kopp won the Rapid City Half-Mile.
