Both Alonso and Piqueras had joined the leading trio, plus Collin Veijer (IntactGP Husqvarna) and Jose Antonio Rueda (Ajo KTM), by lap 10. And the Colombian hit the front for the first time on lap 15 before narrowly avoiding con - tact with Munoz into turn one on the last lap to win by one-tenth of a second. Having run off track and fallen back to fifth, Munoz made an eye-catching recovery on the last lap, passing Veijer and Piqueras in quick succession before out-dragging Holgado for second to the line. In the end, three-tenths of a second cov - ered the top five. Alonso's (224 points) lead has swollen to 71. Ortola (153), who fought back valiantly to ninth, holds second, with Holgado (149) and Veijer (142) close behind. MOTOE Hector Garzo (Dynavolt IntactGP MotoE) all but confirmed him- self as the 2024 MotoE World Champion by scoring a dramatic late victory in the second race of the Austrian doubleheader. The championship leader was in the thick of two dramatic fights with fellow title contend - ers Oscar Gutierrez (Axxis MSI), and Kevin Zannoni (Openbank Aspar Team), who, like Garzo, started on the front row, and Mattia Casadei (LCR MotoE), who fought through from ninth.
