did manage to take the win but
backed things off later in the
second moto after seeing other
riders crash out and throw away
their points for the day. A second
overall keeps the points leader
on top with a 70-point gap. He'll
likely clinch the title next week-
end at Budds Creek.
"Today
was solid," Deegan
said. "I qualified fourth and had
two awesome starts. I came
from around fourth and won the
first moto. In the second moto,
I got a good start right behind
Levi and rode it in for second. I
have a pretty big points lead, so I
didn't want to do anything dumb
because this track's sketchy;
led every lap en route to the
win while a hungry Jo Shimoda
hounded his rear fender for
most of the 30-plus-two. A late-
race fall from Shimoda allowed
Kitchen to cruise it in for the
overall victory. With the win, and
troubles for both Hymas and
Tom Vialle, Kitchen now finds
himself second in the champi
-
onship hunt.
"I
just made a mistake at
the bottom of 'Screw U,' and he
[Deegan] passed me," Kitchen
said. "I tried to make a few
swings at him, but I just couldn't
get him. Once we got the white
flag, it went into like, 'Okay, next
moto, we'll see who gets it.'
Haiden has a big gap. During the
Haiden Deegan played it safe
and settled for second overall.
He's 70 points up on Kitchen and
will likely clinch the title at the
next race at Budds Creek.

Deegan could not be denied
the race win in moto one. The
Star Racing Yamaha rider got
off to a slow start and battled
with teammate Max Anstie for
the first half of the race. Once
Hymas fell from the lead, Deegan
turned on the afterburners and
set his sights on overtaking
