450MX Sexton could easily sit back and play the long game, cruise the rest of the season in second place and likely clinch the title. Instead, he fought his former teammate, Hunter Lawrence, tooth and nail during moto one despite entering the day with a 28-point lead, more than a full- race win. The title favorites were never more than three seconds apart during the race, finishing just a few clicks apart, with Sex - ton ultimately crossing second. Sexton then fired back in moto two with a holeshot, his first of the year, and a hot lap, which saw him open up a six-and-a-half second lead at the green flag. The KTM rider simply decimated the field in the second moto and cruised it in for an easy win, earn - ing the overall in the process. After trading moto wins with Lawrence, he remains 28 points up in the title fight. "To be honest, I was just really excited to get a holeshot," Sexton said. "I haven't pulled a holeshot all summer. Today, we made some adjustments to the bike for the start, and it really paid off. My first moto was good, and the second moto was even better. I just wanted to sprint when the track was good and just capital - VOLUME ISSUE AUGUST , P67 and had to work my way up from midpack, but managed to get back up to fifth. I tried to get into fourth after battling with Jalek [Swoll], but I didn't end up having enough time. Overall, I am pumped on the whole team and everything they have done so far." 94 KEN ROCZEN 7TH (7-6) 450MX Ken Roczen returned to action since injuring his knee at the Nashville Supercross. "Nothing like your first National back," he said. "Overall, a pretty solid weekend. I struggled with my setup in the first moto and got seventh. We made a change for the second one and it was feeling better. After the start, I worked my way up to second until about half way. I ended up sixth in the second moto but at least we improved and was closer to the front. Ultimately, I would like to get my bike a bit better still, and of course myself, too. The track was brutal and super hard-packed. I'm sore! Three months off the bike defi- nitely takes a toll, but you got to start somewhere." MYOWNRACE Chase Sexton saw his seven-moto win streak come to an end in moto one, but he rode all alone at the front in moto two. A pair of holeshots netted Plessinger another spot on the podium.
